International Baccalaureate
What is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Education?
The IB MYP provides a framework of learning that encourages, creative, critical, and reflective thinking. The IB MYP emphasizes intellectual challenges and taking action in an attempt to understand and solve real-world problems. The IB MYP develops international-mindedness based on communication, intercultural understanding, and global engagement - essential qualities for leadership in a rapidly changing world. At Norterra Canyon, all 6th-8th grade students participate in the IB Middle Years Program.
International Baccalaureate Mission
The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the IBO works with school, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to work to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people with their differences can also be right.
